This was another project started for a customer. You know I hate letting unwanted templates go to waste...unless they're REALLY bad. I didn't have a chance to really work out the kinks on this one, but someone might like it. It might not look so hot in all resolutions... I didn't even check. (Gosh, I can really sell a template, can I?)

If it's been a little quiet around here it's for good reason. Lots and lots of behind the scenes stuff going on. And of course, there's work keeping me busy as well.

I've been putting off making any sort of "announcement" for this, because I'm still pinching myself to make sure I didn't dream it up, but the lovely, multi-tasking and multi-talented Phaedra will be joining me here at girliebits designs.

We're going all fancy shmancy with a dot com and a new more informative design. (Pressure, pressure, right Phae?)But don't think the personal touch will be gone, in fact...think the opposite because having one more person "around the office" will mean even MORE attention to detail.

Cate from Sweetnicks wanted a three column layout to better organize her cooking links and content. She started out with a beautiful collage header of her little guy in a sepia tone and wanted to add some pinks to complete the look. Taking a little inspiration from the current girliebits design and a bit more from a swirly cupcake (don't ask lol)...we ended up with what you see here. There were a few tiny bumps on the road, but we managed to get things going one link at a time ;)

I know, I know, when it rains it pours over here. I think this is, what, my 4th post today? Anyways, don't mind if things look a bit wonky right now. I'm still working on a few things. This is NOT, by the way, the spring unveil. I'm still working out the kinks on that. I just wanted to put up this cute design I had before then :) Yes, I'm a geek.

If you guys notice anything weird please leave me a comment. I was messing around with my browser's default font size and I can't figure out how to get it back, so I'm sure font sizes are all weird. Thanks!

Lassa

Lassa wanted a header with some washed out images. She sent me a few pictures of her lovely self and after some creative blending, this is the look we went with. Lassa's blog is my first attempt at tweaking a typepad template, so please be gentle! Typepad's interface was a bit tricky for me, since I've gotten so used to blogger, but I think I might be getting the hang of it. Make sure you go visit my lovely friend Lassa and tell her I sent you!

By the way, if you have a typepad hosted site and you'd like a custom header or some slight modifications for your blog...I'm up for the challenge. I'd be glad to do it for free just to gain a little more experience on the platform. I may not get it to you right away, because I have other projects on my queue at the moment, but I'll certainly try my best to get it to you in a timely fashion :)

Jack from Walken Around wanted something noir, retro or maybe a little David Lynch. I'm not sure if that's what Jack got, but he sure was a trooper for hanging in there with me and my *ahem* personal tribulations. In the end, Jack seemed to be pleased with a design that was customizable (header images and quote can be changed out as needed). I'm just pleased to have found a great new read! For the next couple of months, Girlie Bits Designs will be dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. Donations to Jackie's Bloggers for Boobies of $50 or more will be treated to a brand spankin new custom blog design. In addition, I'm participating in a contest being held by fellow blogger Amber from "I want to be Donna Reed". Two winners will be awarded custom designs for their blogs as well.

Hopefully, there will be no more sidetracks, bumps on the road, illnesses, deaths, obstacles, etc in my way this time. *Fingers crossed*

I'm working on expanding a bit, a domain is in the near future. A new cleaner more accessible design is also in the works- as well as a new designer (or two) coming on board. *more fingers crossed* I'm still looking for illustration hook ups, by the way contact me if you're interested and we'll talk.

FALL.

Autumn is my favorite time of year. There's so much to look forward to, once the leaves turn those pretty colors!

You may have noticed a few changes around here, I hope you are enjoying the new fall look. There are many things coming soon, specials, contests, new updates...very exciting stuff, (well, at least for me :) so be sure to check back often for those.

Also, I've been promising illustration samples for the longest, but please bear with us as we get all our gear (scanners, editing programs, etc) set up.

I'm putting up a new section called TASTYmonials (shut up, I thought it was cute!) For those of you that I've worked with in the past...if you'd like to leave a few words, feel free to email me with the subjectline TASTYMONIAL and I'll be sure to post them as soon as I have it all finished. Hopefully, soon I'll have a form set up for that specific purpose.

Lisa from MySoCalledLife wanted something simple and bold with what she called her "Hawaiian Colors". I took one look at a giftbag from one of my daughter's birthday gifts that had all these colors, and a template was born! (I'll probably be a dork and post a picture of the giftbag later on.) She got some of both :) At first we had the bigger double hearts graphic on there and it was still looking kind of, eh. I think the smaller hearts within the bigger ones was just what it needed. s l o o o o w l y. I'm finally finding a pace I can handle and have been catching up on all there is to do around here. Some sample illustration sketches are in the process of being cropped, resized and posted. Which reminds me, if you'd like a custom illustration for your template, be sure to mention that, it is available!

I've added an AIM account, so that's one more way of contacting me, if you need to. My freemades are SUCKY, I know I haven't really had much extra time to dedicate to them, but I promise, more are coming, along with some premades for sale. I swear, just today I got totally inspired by some wrapping paper I saw. We'll see how that translates into template form ;)

Anyways, I just wanted to touch base with everyone. It's hard to tell there's an actual person behind here from the lack of posting I do. And that will change too.

Many of you are stopping by for some information regarding a template design for your blogs. At the moment, I realize, I'm lacking in that dept. I've quickly set up this blog, until I make my move to a domain. Anyhow, here is some pertinent information:

I charge a $53 flat fee for a custom blog template,
$50 for design and implementation and $3 for paypal fees.
If you have any photos to be retouched or "glammed up"
(like, for example for an "about me" picture),
they're $7 each additional.

86 tips revamp

I am ~~almost~~ done(!) wrapping up this online project for Jackie over at 86tips?. She had requested a Chicago skyline and a cute waitress. Initially, the screenshot I sent Jackie was a little too washed out for her taste. I used mostly pastels and she asked that I brighten it up a bit (okay, alot) and maybe add some polka dots here and there. Her input was fantastic and I'm loving the results we came up with.

This premade template is up for grabs. I called it "electric" cause it reminded me of Electric Company when the silhouettes would say the words on the screen...remember that show? No? Oh well.
